Private Hospitals Join Newborn Genome Screening Programme

Manama: A ceremony was held at King Hamad - American Mission Hospital (AMH) to mark the hospital's participation in the national newborn genome screening programme, launched in partnership with the Ministry of Health.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Lulwa Rashid Showaiter, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Health, emphasized that collaboration with private hospitals is a key driver in the gradual expansion of the screening initiative. This programme, led by the National Genome Centre, focuses on early detection and prevention of genetic conditions.

The ministry affirmed that the Centre has begun receiving genetic screening samples from AMH, marking a step forward in extending the programme to include private sector healthcare providers.
