Manama: The Bahrain Inherited Traditional Sports Committee (Mawrooth) is finalising preparations for the closing ceremony of the 8th edition of the Nasser Bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season, scheduled for next Saturday near the Bahrain National Museum.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the season, which was launched in July and runs until November, is a key initiative to celebrate Bahrain's rich marine heritage. It highlights the country's historic role as a center for pearl diving and traditional maritime activities in the Gulf region.
Mohammed Mubarak Al Rumaihi, Head of the Season, stated that preparations are underway to showcase the event in a manner reflecting the historical and cultural value of Bahrain's marine heritage. The finale will feature the 30-foot traditional rowing boat race over 3,000 meters for the His Majesty the King Cup, with 20 teams from Bahrain and GCC countries participating. This promotes Gulf unity and friendly competition.
The closing activities will also include an open-water swimming competition in two age categories: 30-45 years and 46 years and above. This is part of the season's inclusive approach for all age groups.
