Manama:The Bahrain International Music Festival featured a unique concert by the Patrizio Destriere Quartet, who performed "Portrait of Ennio: The Jazz Side of Ennio Morricone" at the Cultural Hall of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities. This event was organized in collaboration with the Embassy of the Italian Republic in the Kingdom of Bahrain to honor the legacy of celebrated Italian composer Ennio Morricone.
According to Bahrain News Agency, saxophonist Patrizio Destriere led the quartet, which included pianist Fernando Ramss Pe±a Diaz, bassist Giordano Panizza, and drummer Giacomo De Bona, as they reinterpreted some of Morricone most famous compositions. Their performance featured pieces from films such as "Metti una sera a cena," "Nuovo Cinema Paradiso," "The Legend of 1900," "Un sacco bello," and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly."
The music was presented with new arrangements that combined solo performances and ensemble interplay, enhanced by live electronic effects. This contemporary artistic interpretation infused jazz influences while maintaining the original musical identity of Morricone's works, offering audiences a fresh perspective that extends beyond their cinematic origins.
The 35th edition of the Bahrain International Music Festival is supported by several embassies, including those of the Italian Republic, Republic of Korea, Federal Republic of Germany, French Republic, People's Republic of China, and Republic of India. This support underscores the festival's international participation and diversity.
The festival features a wide array of traditional and contemporary musical styles, showcasing ensembles and artists from across the globe. The program is held at various cultural venues throughout the Kingdom of Bahrain.
