Parliamentary Migration and Displacement Committee: We support the government’s measures to close the camps on time

The Parliamentary Migration and Displacement Committee announced its support for the directives of the Council of Ministers to close all displacement camps and facilitate the return of the displaced to their areas of origin, praising the procedures of the Ministry of Migration and Displacement and the efforts it is making in this regard.

The committee said in a statement: ‘We renew our support for the government’s directions to end the displacement issue and facilitate the return and settlement of displaced families in their original areas, after several years have passed since all lands were liberated from the ISIS gangs.’

It called on the government to “accelerate the rehabilitation of infrastructure and provide all services to Sinjar district, after previous governments were unable to reconstruct it.”

It added, “While we praise the measures to encourage voluntary return and distribute the four million dinar grant to returning families in addition to other privileges, we call on our displaced people to r
eturn to their areas and settle there and benefit from the facilities provided by the government, which is an entitlement for every displaced person.”

The committee called on the Ministry of Immigration to continue following up on this important file and to harness all capabilities to serve this affected group and to follow up on the conditions of these families in the post-return phase.
