Parliamentary Division to Participate in 151st General Assembly of IPU

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, led a coordination meeting for the Parliamentary Division to plan Bahrain's participation in the 151st General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), set to take place in Geneva, Switzerland from October 19-23. The meeting focused on reviewing the assembly's agenda and exploring opportunities for parliamentary collaboration within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Arab region.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the agenda for the assembly includes a theme centered on "Commitment to Humanitarian Standards and Supporting Humanitarian Action in Times of Crisis." Al Musallam highlighted Bahrain's dedication to enhancing parliamentary diplomacy by fostering dialogue among global legislatures and promoting the Kingdom's role in sustainable development and cooperation.

The assembly will tackle important topics such as food security, climate protection, digital rights for children, artificial intelligence, and inclusive societies. The Bahraini delegation plans to be actively involved in various related forums, such as the Arab Parliamentary Union and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.

Bahrain, an active IPU member since 2003, has consistently contributed to its assemblies and initiatives, underscoring its commitment to international parliamentary engagement and cooperation.
