Geneva: The delegation of Bahrain's Parliamentary Division, led by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, concluded its participation in the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) held in Geneva from 19 to 23 October.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahraini delegation participated in a series of meetings, including the IPU Governing Council and various parliamentary forums. These sessions focused on issues such as gender equality, peace and security, sustainable development, and promoting dialogue and coexistence.
Throughout the sessions, the delegation actively contributed to discussions and presented proposals supporting humanitarian and development priorities. This involvement reflected Bahrain's commitment to parliamentary diplomacy and international cooperation.
The Assembly adopted the 'Geneva Declaration,' affirming the importance of upholding humanitarian principles, protecting civilians in times of conflict, and ensuring the neutrality of aid. It also underscores the responsibility of parliaments in promoting international humanitarian law, empowering women and youth, and advancing justice, equality, and sustainable development worldwide.
