Open Summer 3×3 Basketball Championship Kicks Off in Bahrain

Manama: The first edition of the Bahrain Open Summer 3x3 Basketball Championship will commence tomorrow, Saturday, at the Zain Hall, featuring 24 teams representing national clubs, universities, private institutions, and community groups. The event is organised by the Bahrain Basketball Association under the direct supervision of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

According to Bahrain News Agency, the tournament is an annual competitive event and has been granted a (Quest) rating, qualifying the winning team to participate in one of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour stages. The total prize pool is $6,000, and the Bahrain Basketball Association will cover travel expenses for the winning team's participation in international competitions, reflecting the association's commitment to developing the sport and supporting Bahrain's presence on the global stage.

The first day's matches will run from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm, with 24 games played across two courts. Competition will continue on Saturday through the knockout stages, starting with the round of 16 at 7:50 pm, followed by the quarter finals at 8:00 pm, semi finals at 8:20 pm, and concluding with the final at 8:30 pm.

The tournament is expected to witness strong competition amid growing enthusiasm for 3x3 basketball in Bahrain and increasing local and international interest in the sport.
