One person killed, eight injured in militant attack on shrine in Iran

At least one person was killed and eight others were wounded Sunday in a militant attack on a religious shrine in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz.

A gunman opened fire on people at Shah Cheragh Shrine in Shiraz, killing one person and wounding eight others, the Iranian News Agency (IRNA) reported quoting Deputy Governor of Fars Province for security affairs Esmail Sofla.

He pointed out that the security forces had arrested the gunman and he is being currently interrogated.

The so-called Islamic (ISIS) group carried out a similar attack on the same shrine on October 26, 2022, killing 13 people and injuring 30 others.
