Amman:The Secretariat General of the Ombudsman took part in the 2026 Regional Workshop titled "Strengthening Security Systems for All towards Human-Centred Security Services in Arab States," which was held in Amman, Jordan, on September 28-29. The event was organized by the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States in collaboration with the Global Initiative on Rule of Law, Justice and Security.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the workshop gathered representatives from oversight institutions and entities concerned with the rule of law and human rights throughout the region. The Ombudsman's participation was notable for emphasizing Bahrain's national efforts in enhancing institutional integrity and transparency, as well as oversight mechanisms and the rule of law. It also served as a platform for exchanging expertise in administrative and security oversight and human rights protection.
The workshop concluded with the adoption of a regional programme agenda for 2026-2027, which is aligned with national needs. Additionally, the UNDP Regional Bureau's "Security Programming Catalogue" was launched and reviewed, featuring 20 programme pillars that address community security, security sector reform, correctional and rehabilitation institutions, crime prevention, security sector governance, and support for prison systems.
