Ombuds Office Engages in International Workshop on Criminal Justice Systems

Manama: Members of the Ombuds Office, led by Ghada Hameed Habib, Ombuds Office Secretary General, participated in a specialised workshop held virtually in coordination with the British Embassy in Bahrain. The event focused on enhancing global cooperation and improving the technical and legal capacities of the participating institutions.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the workshop was organised by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman (PPO) for England and Wales, with contributions from ombuds offices in New Zealand and Northern Ireland. The agenda centered on exchanging expertise and reviewing international best practices related to oversight, independent investigation mechanisms, and human rights safeguards within criminal justice systems and places of detention.

This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to fortify international collaboration and ensure that the participating institutions are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively handle oversight and human rights issues in criminal justice and detention environments.
