Manama: Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, welcomed Aishath Ihma Shareef, the Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to the Kingdom of Bahrain, along with her delegation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was also attended by Brigadier Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Dossairi, Assistant Undersecretary for Exits, Search and Follow-Up. The Undersecretary acknowledged the significant role of the IOM in bolstering international efforts concerning migration and border management. Discussions during the meeting focused on various issues of mutual interest, including strategies for enhancing cooperation and coordination between both parties.
The dialogue centered around addressing emerging challenges in passport services, legal identity, and integrated border management. Additionally, both sides reviewed mechanisms for sharing expertise to improve systems and procedures in line with international standards and practices. There was a mutual emphasis on the importance of implementing UN migration programmes and initiatives to support the ministry's goals of enhancing security, streamlining individual mobility processes, and developing the technical and administrative infrastructure in this domain.
