Manama: Dr. Fawzeya Saeed Al Saleh, Member of the Board of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received Mark Lawrence Donovan, Ambassador of Australia to Bahrain, resident in Riyadh.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting included an overview of the NIHR's mandate and operational framework in the Kingdom of Bahrain. There was a briefing on the role of its committees in cooperation with civil society organisations and relevant government entities. Discussions also covered the institution's collaboration with the Ministry of Interior on the implementation of the Alternative Sentencing Programme.
The ambassador expressed appreciation for the NIHR's efforts in promoting and protecting human rights, upholding international legal standards, and issuing regular reports.
