NIHR Chairman Praises Bahrain’s Commitment to Global Peace Efforts

Manama: Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), applauded the humanitarian initiatives led by the Kingdom of Bahrain under the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. These efforts aim to consolidate human values and promote cooperation among nations, establishing Bahrain as a pioneering example of coexistence, compassion, and peace.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Derazi highlighted Bahrain's dedication to peacekeeping both regionally and globally, emphasizing its commitment to tolerance, coexistence, and human rights. He pointed out the Kingdom's balanced policies that aid in conflict prevention and security, achieved through active cooperation with the United Nations and relevant international organizations. Bahrain also plays a significant role in fostering societal stability by backing humanitarian and developmental initiatives in conflict regions, offering relief aid, and engaging in international dialogues concerning peace and security.

This statement was made in light of the International Day of Peace on September 21, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the UN Peacebuilding Commission. The commission is instrumental in intensifying UN efforts to tackle the root causes of violence-such as poverty, discrimination, and injustice-viewed as major threats to societal stability and sustainable peace.

Al Derazi reiterated the NIHR's commitment to supporting peacebuilding efforts by advocating for a culture of human rights, bolstering the principles of tolerance, and opposing violence as essential components for achieving stability and sustainable peace. He also stressed the NIHR's role in monitoring and preventing practices that incite hate speech, discrimination, or incitement, aligning with its responsibility to enhance societal awareness of coexistence and mutual respect.
