Near completion of draining the water from Wadi Jazza, east of Benghazi

The Reconstruction and Stabilization Committee of the House of Representatives confirmed that the process of emptying water from the “Jazza” Valley, located east of the city of Benghazi, is nearing completion.

The committee explained in a statement on its Facebook page that the technical teams affiliated with the committee prepared the path of the valley and reduced the level of water retained in the dam by establishing a mechanism for its smooth flow into the sea.

She pointed out that the engineers and technical teams cleaned the valley’s path along 8 kilometers out of a total of 12 kilometers and emptied more than 5 million cubic meters of water trapped behind the dam, to be reduced by about seven and a half metres.

The committee added that specialized companies will undertake maintenance work on the dam and its main gate, which had been subjected to acts of theft and vandalism during previous periods.
