Manama: Bahraini sport has achieved an unprecedented milestone after national basketball team player Muzamil Ameer became the first Bahraini and first player from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to be selected among international players for the 2026 NBA G League. Muzamil Ameer was selected eighth overall by the San Diego Clippers before being immediately traded to the Texas Legends of the Dallas Mavericks, one of the NBA's most established clubs, in a historic move that opens new horizons for Bahraini basketball and strengthens the Kingdom's presence on the global professional stage. According to Bahrain News Agency, this achievement reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain's approach to investing in youth and empowering national talent, and embodies the project led by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs.
