Kuwait city: Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, participated in the 37th GCC Committee for Agricultural Cooperation and Food Security meeting, held in Kuwait.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing cooperation on the conservation of plant genetic resources among GCC countries. It also delved into a consultancy project aimed at studying and assessing the role of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in farm management and productivity enhancement. This initiative is in collaboration with the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA).
The discussions included potential amendments to the lists of prohibited pesticides, the Pesticides Law, and the Executive Regulations concerning fertilisers and soil conditioners. Furthermore, the meeting addressed the draft law on preventive measures against infectious and epidemic animal diseases. The agenda also covered the Executive Regulations of the GCC Law on the Practice of Veterinary Medicine, the Executive Regulations of the Law on Veterinary Products, and the Unified Law for the Protection and Exploitation of Living Aquatic Resources.
