Manama: Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs, received Asmaa Shalabi, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to Bahrain. The meeting highlighted ongoing and future collaborations aimed at enhancing Bahrain's sustainable development goals.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Al Mubarak praised the UNDP's role in supporting Bahrain's sustainable development initiatives. He also discussed the ministry's plans and projects, specifically focusing on the National Afforestation Strategy. This strategy is a key component of Bahrain's commitment under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, with an objective to double the number of trees by the year 2035.
During the meeting, Shalabi acknowledged the progress Bahrain has achieved in various sectors. She expressed her hopes to further strengthen the cooperation between Bahrain and the UNDP, aiming to make significant advancements in sustainable development goals.
