Manama: Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs, inaugurated the Middle East Regional Workshop organised by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). The workshop, held in Bahrain from October 14-16, focused on "Strengthening One Health Implementation through the Joint Plan of Action" and saw participation from representatives and experts from 14 regional countries.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister underscored Bahrain's dedication to supporting international animal health efforts and its active participation in regional and global initiatives. He highlighted the importance of the One Health approach in bolstering health and food security, preventing zoonotic diseases, and advancing sustainable development goals.
The ceremony also featured recognition for the supporting company, Boehringer, and WOAH presented an appreciation award to Bahrain for hosting the workshop. The event includes discussions on the One Health Joint Plan of Action, spotlighting national achievements such as Bahrain's experience in improving preparedness and response to human, animal, and environmental health emergencies.
