Municipalities Affairs Undersecretary Attends Gulf City Cleaning Company Fleet Launch

Manama: Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, was present at the unveiling of the Gulf City Cleaning Company's latest service fleet. This initiative marks a significant step in advancing the cleanliness and environmental sustainability efforts across Bahrain's governorates.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed highlighted the Ministry's commitment to integrating advanced mechanisms and modern systems to enhance cleanliness throughout the Kingdom. The primary goals are to improve operational efficiency, ensure a sustainable and clean environment, and support the sustainability of environmental services, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents.

The event featured a range of new vehicles and containers developed by the Capital Municipality and Muharraq Municipality. These include internationally certified eco-friendly plastic containers and newly designated recycling bins. The Kingdom plans to distribute 300 recycling centres nationwide, with approximately 150 centres located in the Capital and Muharraq Governorates.

Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed stated that the updated cleaning services fleet in the Capital and Muharraq will enhance operations with new vehicles equipped with modern systems. These include automated bin washers and fine sand sweeping vehicles that use water sprays to reduce airborne dust. Additionally, a coastal cleaning boat equipped with nets and arms designed to collect debris along a 10-metre shoreline was introduced.

He further explained that the new containers are constructed from durable, lightweight plastic, providing a more sustainable option. These 1,100-litre bins are designed to be quieter during waste collection and are environmentally friendly, supporting the Ministry's broader sustainability objectives.
