Municipal Council Chairpersons Highlight BIPD’s Role on Its 20th Anniversary

Manama: Municipal council chairpersons commended the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) on its twentieth anniversary, noting its contribution to strengthening political awareness and supporting the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the municipal sector has benefitted from BIPD's programmes in areas such as legal awareness for candidates, training for newly elected members in governance and transparency, and capacity building for municipal employees.

Saleh Tarrada, Chairperson of the Capital Trustees Board, stated that BIPD has become a key institution for developing national competencies and improving municipal councils' ability to address service and development files.

Abdulaziz Al Naar, Chairperson of Muharraq Municipal Council, highlighted the institute's role in enhancing members' skills in legal frameworks, meeting management, community engagement, and decision-making, noting the value of joint training for elected and executive officials.

Abdullah Ibrahim AbdulLatif, Chairperson of the Southern Municipal Council, mentioned that BIPD has strengthened electoral awareness and prepared future municipal and parliamentary members through specialised training.

Dr. Sayed Shubber Al Wedai, Chairperson of the Northern Municipal Council, emphasized that the institute's legal and constitutional training and professional discussion sessions have improved members' readiness and strengthened collaboration with executive bodies in addressing local priorities.
