MOUNT LEBANON APPEALS PROSECUTOR GHADA AOUN CHALLENGES SUSPENSION, DISMISSES DECISION ‘INVALID AND ILLEGAL’

Mount Lebanon Appeals Prosecutor, Judge Ghada Aoun, on Thursday issued a statement declaring the decision by Judge Jamal Al-Hajjar to suspend her from work as invalid and in violation of the law.

“This decision falls solely under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Justice based on a request for judicial inspection. I urge the Minister to intervene to halt these violations that obstruct the course of justice against an Appeals Prosecutor who is carrying out her duties with sincerity, honesty, impartiality, and integrity,’ Aoun stated.

“I will file an appeal on Monday before the State Council against the mentioned decision. For this reason, and because Judge Al-Hajjar has no authority to make any decision in this regard, as well as the illegality of the decision mentioned and its exceeding of authority, I have not been officially informed of his appointment as an Appeals Prosecutor. In my opinion, he is an usurper of authority and has no right to perform the duties of the Appeals Prosecutor,’ Judge Aoun adde
