Moon Sighting Committee Announces Friday as First Day of Eid Al Fitr


Manama: The Moon Sighting Committee of the Kingdom of Bahrain has declared that Thursday, March 19, will mark the completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH. Consequently, Friday, March 20, has been designated as the first day of Eid Al Fitr.



According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee held a meeting on the evening of Wednesday, March 18 (29 Ramadan 1447 AH) at the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) to observe the Shawwal crescent. With no confirmed sightings of the crescent by the time the announcement was made, it was concluded that Ramadan would complete its thirty days on Thursday, leading to the commencement of Eid Al Fitr on Friday.



The SCIA took the opportunity to extend their congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as well as members of the Royal Family, the people of Bahrain, and the Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.
