Ministry of Foreign Affairs Condemns Renewed Iranian Attack Targeting Bahrain

Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned the renewed Iranian attack targeting its territory with a number of ballistic missiles and drones, describing it as a grave escalation that demonstrates Tehran's conduct is neither a passing act nor an isolated incident, but a deliberate course and a systematic pattern of repeated aggression against the Kingdom's sovereignty and the security of its citizens and residents.

According to Bahrain News Agency, in a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled its previous statement condemning the Iranian attack on the Kingdom's territory, in which it highlighted Tehran's breach of its commitments and the international consensus reflected in United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026). It said the renewed attack on Sunday, June 28, 2026, confirms the Kingdom's earlier warnings and demonstrates that the Iranian regime continues this course despite international condemnation and the commitments it has undertaken. It stressed that repeated attacks will neither establish a fait accompli nor weaken Bahrain's resolve or the steadfastness of its people.

The ministry said the repeated attacks nullify every pretext and demonstrate Tehran's premeditation, coming immediately after its commitment under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, signed on June 17, 2026, to a permanent cessation of military operations and respect for the sovereignty of the countries of the region. It held Tehran solely responsible for violating its commitments and undermining prospects for de-escalation and regional stability.

The ministry stressed that Tehran's continued defiance of the international community requires a firm response and called on the United Nations Security Council to convene an urgent session and fulfil its responsibilities by ensuring the implementation of Resolution 2817 (2026), halting the continued aggression, and holding those responsible accountable.

The ministry underlined that the repeated aggression targets not only the Kingdom of Bahrain but also the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as a whole, in accordance with the principle underpinning the Joint Defence Agreement of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf that an attack against one member state is an attack against all.

The ministry emphasised the Kingdom of Bahrain's appreciation for Gulf solidarity and shared security, underscoring its full and legitimate right to defend its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity by all means guaranteed under international law. It also held the Iranian regime fully responsible for any escalation resulting from the continuation of its attacks.
