Accra:The capital Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works, evaluated the readiness for the upcoming rainy season in a joint meeting with the Capital Trustees Board and municipal councils.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting examined the preparedness plans of both the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Ministry of Works. The discussions emphasized proactive measures to handle rainwater accumulation, respond to reports and emergencies, and enhance overall readiness.
Al Mubarak stated that emergency teams have been established, comprising personnel from the Capital Municipality and the Muharraq, Northern, and Southern municipalities, to evaluate sites and determine necessary actions for a swift response to rainwater accumulation. He noted that field data are continually updated to facilitate the deployment of equipment and water removal vehicles.
Al Hawaj highlighted that the Ministry of Works is ensuring the readiness of rainwater drainage networks, conducting maintenance and cleaning, and preparing pumps, tankers, and emergency teams to support a rapid response.
The meeting also identified locations needing special preparations and discussed the deployment of equipment and work teams according to field requirements, as well as measures to enhance coordination and information exchange among the relevant authorities.
The public can report rainwater accumulation and other municipal issues to the Remote Services Centre at 17989898, while issues concerning main roads can be reported to the Ministry of Works at 17545544.
