Baghdad: Minister of Trade Athir Al-Ghariri stressed that securing storage capacities is the basic step to care for agriculture and support the farmer in reducing the distance and effort during the marketing of the wheat crop, in cooperation between the federal government and the regional government.
The Minister indicated in a speech he delivered at the ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the “Halabja Silo” “We have achieved self-sufficiency from our land and the quantities marketed throughout the country have exceeded the barrier of five and a half million, and we are still at the peak of marketing in the governorates of the region, Nineveh, Salah al-Din, Kirkuk and Anbar.”
Al-Ghariri stressed “the need for greater steps and attention to agriculture and providing storage capacities to preserve the stock and achieve food security because it is no less important than achieving security, no less important than achieving security forces on the ground.”
