MIKATI HOLDS DIPLOMATIC MEETING AT GRAND SERAIL OVER SOUTH LEBANON DEVELOPMENTS, MEETS WITH QATARI AND UK AMBASSADORS, MP TAWK, RECEIVES ELECTRICITY OF FRANCE DELEGATION


Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Wednesday held a series of diplomatic meetings at the Grand Serail, over the current situation in Lebanon and the region, and the efforts made to stop the Israeli aggression on southern Lebanon.

In this context, the Prime Minister held a wide meeting with the ambassadors of the European Union countries, which included: the European Union Ambassador Sandra De Waele, and the Ambassadors of Austria René Paul Amry, Belgium Koen Vervaeke, Bulgaria Iassen Tomov, Czech Jiri Dolezel, Denmark Christopher Vivek, Finland Anne Meskanen, France Hervé Magro, Germany Kurt Georg Stoeckl-Stillfried, Greece Despina Koukoulopoulou, Hungary Ferenc Csillag, Italy Fabrizio Marcelli, the Netherlands Hans Peter van Der Woude, Poland Przemyslaw Niesiolowski,, and Romania Radu Katalin Mardar.

The Chargés d’Affaires of the Embassies of Cyprus, Slovakia, and Sweden were also present.

The meeting was devoted to discussing the security developments in the south and the impact of the Gaza war o
n stability in Lebanon.

Discussions also touched on the economic and administrative reforms in Lebanon, whereby ambassadors expressed their countries’ readiness to assist Lebanon in this regard.

The meeting also dwelt on the Syrian refugees’ dossier and its repercussions on the Lebanese situation as a whole.

On the other hand, Premier Mikati met at the Grand Serail with Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon, Saud bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani, over the latest political developments and the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Mikati later welcomed British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell, with whom he discussed the bilateral ties between Lebanon and the UK.

The Prime Minister then received MP William Tawk, who said on emerging that “the discussion touched on the security developments in the south, in addition to the political situation and developmental affairs related to the Bsharri region.”

Mikati also received at the Grand Serail a delegation from the Electricity of France.
