Baghdad, The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, stressed that building dams in the region is a step towards optimal utilization of water resources.
Masrour Barzani said in a speech he delivered during the opening ceremony of the Chamrga Dam in the Qishtapa area in the city of Erbil, today: “The construction of this dam comes within the framework of the regional government’s program to develop the utilization of water resources.”
He explained that “the government has implemented the construction of several large and small dams in different areas of the region, stressing the continuation of these efforts to achieve multiple goals, the most important of which is preventing the negative effects of floods that threaten the lives of citizens in some areas.”
Barzani pointed out that these dams play an important role in supporting farmers in Kurdistan in addition to providing tourism opportunities for citizens in some areas.”
