Manama: Formula 1 and the F©d©ration Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) have officially announced that Malaysia will host the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit from October 2-4, 2026. This event will be scheduled between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the hosting of the Grand Prix in Malaysia is contingent upon final agreements and official sign-offs, including approval from the World Motor Sport Council. The decision highlights Bahrain's long-standing commitment to Formula 1, dating back to the region's first Grand Prix in 2004, and Malaysia's willingness to collaborate. This move also underscores Formula 1's adaptability in maintaining an extensive and engaging calendar for 2026.
The agreement was reached among Formula 1, the FIA, the governments of Bahrain and Malaysia, ensuring the preservation of a Grand Prix that might otherwise have been canceled. The remainder of the 2026 schedule remains unchanged.
Sepang is recognized as one of Formula 1's most iconic circuits, celebrated for its challenging track, passionate fanbase, and unpredictable weather.
