Independent Kurdish politician Mahmoud Othman ruled out holding early elections in the country, which a senior political leader called for a few days ago.
Othman said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): ‘There is no national consensus or consensus on holding early parliamentary elections, indicating that the coordination framework is divided over the call to hold those elections, and some reject that call while others are committed to silence regarding it.’
He pointed out that the Kurdish and Sunni political blocs did not express their opinion on that call because they are busy restoring their internal affairs, and need time before starting to prepare for the elections.
Othman pointed out that the Iraqi people in general are not interested in holding early or regular elections, considering that they will only produce the same faces and the same parties, pointing out that the coming period is full of political events, considering that the country contains many problems without solutions
