Kuril islands: A 6.03 magnitude earthquake struck the Kuril Islands in Russia's Far East today, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the earthquake occurred at a depth of approximately 60 kilometres below the surface and was felt in nearby areas. There have been no immediate reports of casualties or major damage following the seismic event.
Both Russian authorities and Japan's meteorological agency have stated that no tsunami warnings have been issued in the aftermath of the quake.
