Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, calling it a historic step towards ending a decades-long conflict.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Macron posted on X, describing the US-brokered deal as a sign of hope for the Congolese and Rwandan peoples, expressing his wish for lasting peace.
The agreement was signed in Washington by DR Congo Foreign Minister Th©r¨se Kayikwamba Wagner and Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe, in the presence of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
It includes commitments to territorial integrity, cessation of hostilities, and disarmament of armed groups.
