Sehla: The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) welcomed a delegation from Qatar, led by Sara Al Saadi, Deputy Chair of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCHT), at the Expat Protection Centre. The purpose of the visit was to examine Bahrain's efforts in improving work conditions and combating human trafficking and illegal practices.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Noora Isa Mubarak, LMRA's Deputy CEO for Enforcement and Protection and a member of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons (NCCTIPs), emphasized the strong relationship between Bahrain and Qatar. She highlighted the significance of sharing expertise to bolster joint anti-trafficking efforts. Mubarak reiterated Bahrain's dedication to ongoing development and introduced key measures such as the National Referral Mechanism (NRM), which links all pertinent governmental and non-governmental entities via a unified electronic platform.
The Qatari delegation also reviewed the functions of the Expat Protection Centre, the region's first specialized facility offering preventive, legal, advisory, and shelter services to victims and potential victims. The centre is supported by a multilingual 24/7 hotline, demonstrating Bahrain's proactive approach in addressing human trafficking challenges.
