LMRA CEO and BISB Counterpart Discuss Wage Protection System


Manama: Ibras Talib, CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairman of the National Committee for Combatting Trafficking in Persons, met with Fatema Al Alawi, CEO of Bahrain Islamic Bank (BISB). Talib emphasized the bank’s role in supporting strategic projects, particularly the enhanced Wage Protection System (WPS), which allows employers to pay workers’ salaries electronically through a unified platform that bolsters labour rights and workplace stability.



According to Bahrain News Agency, Talib praised the bank for its quick adaptation to the system’s requirements, noting that BISB was among the first banks to provide this service to its employer clients. The meeting also explored several joint initiatives aimed at reinforcing Bahrain’s regional and international position in labour practices and anti-trafficking efforts, where the Kingdom is recognized as a leading model.



Fatema Al Alawi acknowledged LMRA’s efforts in promoting labour market stability and protecting the rights of all stakeholders. She reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting government initiatives to enhance systems and services that strengthen and sustain Bahrain’s labour environment.
