LEBANON’S MOFA: MEETING WITH UNIFIL DISCUSSED BEST MEANS TO IMPLEMENT MANDATE IN LEBANON, ADDRESS EXISTING GAPS

Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants on Friday announced in a statement that “within the framework of the ongoing dialogue, coordination, and cooperation between the Lebanese authorities and the United Nations represented by UNIFIL, the first meeting between both parties’ joint working group was held at the Grand Serail on July 13, 2023, in presence of officials representing the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Lebanese Army, and a delegation representing UNIFIL. The meeting aimed to discuss the best means to implement UNIFIL’s mandate in Lebanon and to address the existing gaps. It has been agreed that the next meetings will be held periodically to enhance constructive and sustainable partnership between both sides and to maintain stability in south Lebanon, and the region. Lebanon has stressed its respect for and commitment to implementing all international resolutions issued by the United Nations and calls on all concerned parties to follow its example.’
