Colombo: Authorities in Sri Lanka announced that more than 30 people have died and 14 others remain missing following heavy rainfall and landslides that struck several parts of the country.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the government has suspended train services and closed roads in the affected areas. The Disaster Management Centre reported that most of the fatalities occurred in the mountainous districts of Badulla and Nuwara Eliya.
The death toll has risen to 31 since last week, with widespread damage reported and extensive flooding affecting homes, agricultural land, and road networks.
