Kuwait Municipality’s campaign against malpractices continuing

KUWAIT, The Kuwaiti Municipality has pursued its unabated campaign against malpractices throughout the country with the latest action being the closure of four basements in Hawally Governorate.

The municipality said in a statement on Saturday that the inspection personnel closed the four basements and addressed 43 warnings in the governorate.

The search and remove campaign is proceeding intensively to penalize culprits misplacing scrap and unneeded objects in non-designated spots, it affirmed, stressing that landlords must cooperate and heed the relevant laws and regulations.

Earlier today, the municipality demanded people not to dump unused items involving old furniture before their apartment buildings, warning that fines would be imposed on violators as per the Municipal Law.

The warning came in the aftermath of a recent large fire that engulfed an apartment building and left 49 people dead and several others injured at Al-Mangaf Area in Kuwait’s southern Al-Ahmadi Governorate.

In a press statement, th
e municipality underlined that it had removed more than 64 tons of old furniture across the governorate over the last few days.

It added that municipal teams had collected at least 568 tons of scrapped items at investment and commercial areas nationwide over the last couple of days.
