Kuwait city: The Ministry of Interior of the State of Kuwait announced that the relevant security authorities, following precise and intensive monitoring and security follow-up operations, succeeded in uncovering and arresting a terrorist group affiliated with the banned terrorist organisation Hezbollah, which was seeking to destabilise security in the country and recruit individuals to join the terrorist organisation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the ministry said in a statement broadcast by Kuwait TV News that security investigations revealed an organised sabotage plan carried out by members of this terrorist group, comprising 14 citizens and two Lebanese nationals, aimed at undermining the country's sovereignty, destabilising its stability, and seeking to spread chaos and disrupt public order, which constitutes a direct threat to national security and exposes the safety of citizens, residents and the state's resources to danger.
It explained that a number of seized items were found in the possession of the terrorist organisation after obtaining the necessary legal permission from the Public Prosecution, including a number of firearms and ammunition, a weapon used for assassinations, encrypted communication devices (Morse), drones, flags and images belonging to terrorist organisations, maps, narcotic substances, cash sums and weapons used for training.
It noted that investigations are ongoing and that the necessary measures are being taken against them, and they will be referred to the Public Prosecution, which has jurisdiction, while the security authorities continue their efforts to pursue anyone proven to be linked to such terrorist groups.
The ministry affirmed that the security and sovereignty of Kuwait are a red line that cannot be compromised, and that any attempt to cooperate with, support, sympathise with or provide financial support to foreign terrorist entities at the expense of the nation's security will be met with strict and decisive measures, and no leniency will be shown towards any party proven to be involved in such acts that affect the country's security and stability.
