Kuwait donates around USD one mln for flood relief in Pakistan

The State of Kuwait on Tuesday donated nearly one million US dollars to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan for the victims of recent devastating floods in the country.

This is part of the direct Kuwaiti financial contributions in addition to other financial contributions that were directed through the specialized agencies of the United Nations, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Pakistani Nassar Almutairi said in a statement to KUNA.

These donations come along with the various relief activities and the campaign by the people of Kuwait, citizens and residents in support of the flood victims of Pakistan, which exceeds the amount of USD two million that was distributed on time in the devastated areas by the Kuwait Red Crescent and NGOs, he said.

“We hope that these concerted efforts will have an impact on alleviating the suffering of those affected by the devastating floods, and pray to Allah Almighty to protect Pakistan and its brotherly people from all evils,” he added.

The donation is based on the decision of the Cabinet of the State of Kuwait, which came from its belief in standing by their brother in Pakistan to contribute to mitigating the effects resulting from the disaster, the ambassador noted.
