Kuwait Cabinet Reviews Regional Security Developments in Weekly Meeting

Kuwait city: Kuwait's Cabinet held its weekly meeting today, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, the Prime Minister of Kuwait.

According to Bahrain News Agency, His Highness the Prime Minister briefed the Cabinet on the outcome of a phone call received by His Excellency Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the President of Egypt, who underscored Egypt's support for Kuwait's security and stability.

The Cabinet was also briefed on calls received by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Mubarak Al Sabah, the Crown Prince of Kuwait, from His Majesty the King of the Netherlands, HE the President of Germany, and HE the President of Zambia, who expressed their countries' solidarity with Kuwait.

Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, also briefed the Cabinet on the dismantling of a terrorist cell linked to Hezbollah. The group, comprising several individuals, was plotting to destabilise the country. Authorities seized weapons, ammunition, drones, and communication devices. The suspects are being referred to the Public Prosecution.

The Cabinet strongly condemned the plot, stressing that Kuwait's security is a "red line" and affirming zero tolerance for any attempts to undermine national stability.

On the defence front, the Cabinet reviewed military readiness and efforts to enhance preparedness across the armed forces.

In a related context, the Cabinet strongly condemned attacks targeting Gulf states, affirming Kuwait's full solidarity with these countries.

The Cabinet also approved a draft decree to appoint a new board for the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority.

The Cabinet emphasised that it remains in continuous session to monitor developments and ensure the safety and security of citizens and residents.
