Koudougou: A dam dredging and rehabilitation project was presented to the President of the special delegation (PDS) of the municipality of Koudougou, Mr. Amédé Paré, by the Song-Naam association with the support of the technical services in charge of water. This initiative aims to improve the living conditions of the population through the enhancement of the city's dams and waterways. According to Burkina Information Agency, the project presentation took place in the banquet hall of Koudougou's town hall, with traditional authorities, technical officials, and journalists in attendance. Chief Naaba Saaga 1st of Issouka highlighted the project's objective to rejuvenate the city's waterways by removing sand deposits, thus preventing flooding and ensuring a stable water supply. He emphasized the project's potential to combat diseases linked to unsanitary conditions, support local tourism, aid in livestock watering, and promote a healthier environment. The chief urged the municipality's leaders and citizens to s upport the initiative, aligning it with the national efforts in sanitation and rehabilitation. Mr. Amédé Paré, the PDS of Koudougou, expressed appreciation for the initiative by the Song-Naam association and technical services, recognizing its importance in revitalizing the municipality's waterways amid the current national context. Mr. Antoine Zorma, regional director of Agriculture, Water, Animal and Fisheries Resources of Nando, affirmed his department's readiness to back initiatives for mobilizing surface and groundwater. He mentioned ongoing discussions regarding the project's technical feasibility. The waterway spans approximately fifteen kilometers with multiple branches leading to the Issouka dam. Mr. Zorma projected that if stakeholder engagement is successful, dredging could be completed within two months, ensuring a clean water source before the rainy season. This meeting signifies a pivotal step towards sustainable water management and sanitation solutions for Koudougou.
