Khalid bin Hamad Visits Faisal bin Khalid Athletics Academy, Honours Champions.


Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), highlighted the importance of the Faisal bin Khalid Athletics Academy in discovering and nurturing promising talents to develop a distinguished generation of athletes. During his visit to the academy, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad was accompanied by His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority; His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the BOC; His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa; His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa; Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the GSA; Faris Al Kooheji, Secretary General of the BOC; and Mohammed Abdullatif bin Jalal, President of the Bahrain Athletics Association.

According to Bahrain News Agency, during the visit, His Highness Shaikh Khalid
bin Hamad met with veteran Bahraini athletes, acknowledging their contributions and achievements in the history of Bahraini athletics. He observed a series of races and commended the academy’s efforts in nurturing talent. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad also recognised the academy’s role in nurturing the skills of athletes who excelled at the International School Sports Federation Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024, held in October. His Highness honoured the champions for their accomplishments, wishing them further success in athletics.

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad emphasised the importance of investing in and developing young talent to ensure future achievements, thereby enhancing Bahrain’s position in international sports. His Highness commended the academy’s role in refining skilled athletes and the efforts of its management in providing an environment conducive to preparing a promising generation capable of representing Bahrain in global competitions.

The visit concluded with His Highness noting the significanc
e of recognising young athletes for their dedication and perseverance, and their ability to score international sporting achievements for Bahrain. His Highness also acknowledged the legacy of former sports stars whose children continue to build on this rich heritage of athletic excellence, underlining Bahrain’s commitment to fostering a new generation of athletes who will contribute to further achievements for Bahraini sports, especially in athletics.
