Baku:The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf has initiated GCC Endowments Week, themed "Endowments and National Development." This event is part of a Gulf initiative to emphasize the role of endowments in supporting national development and enhancing contributions to charitable, social, and development activities.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the GCC Endowments Week is a result of meetings among committees responsible for Islamic affairs and endowments within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This reflects a mutual commitment to increasing awareness about the significance of endowments in serving society and contributing to sustainable development.
The Ministry acknowledged the support of Islamic affairs and endowments authorities across GCC countries for the initiative, highlighting the importance of ongoing coordination and the exchange of expertise to bolster joint Gulf action and develop the endowments sector. The role of the GCC General Secretariat was also praised for organizing the initiative, coordinating efforts among member states, and overseeing its implementation, thus enhancing Gulf integration and cooperation in the field of endowments.
Activities during the GCC Endowments Week include discussing endowments in Friday sermons and lessons at mosques, along with a series of awareness programs. These programs focus on the significance of endowments, their objectives under Islamic law, and their role in supporting charitable causes, promoting solidarity and social cohesion, serving society, and advancing national development.
