Justice Minister Participates in 41st Council of Arab Ministers of Justice Meeting

Cairo: Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, joined his Arab counterparts in Cairo for the 41st meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice. The gathering concentrated on enhancing collaborative Arab initiatives to address terrorism and related offenses, such as money laundering, terror financing, and cybercrime. The ministers evaluated the current status of existing Arab conventions in these domains and deliberated on ways to expedite their implementation.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Council also explored broader areas of legal cooperation, which included following up on anti-corruption commitments and ongoing efforts to establish new regional frameworks pertaining to refugee issues and personal data protection.

Additionally, the ministers considered several draft model laws. These included proposals aimed at curbing hate speech, supporting and protecting internally displaced people, safeguarding children from recruitment in armed conflict, and updating the Arab model law on combating narcotics and psychotropic substances.
