Manama: The Judicial and Legal Studies Institute, in collaboration with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), has inaugurated a specialised training programme tailored for data managers and data protection officers. This initiative is designed to cultivate national expertise in alignment with the Personal Data Protection Law.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the programme supports Bahrain's digital transformation strategy, aiming to enhance data protection, institutional compliance, and digital security in both public and private sectors. Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and Acting Chairman of the Personal Data Protection Authority Board of Directors, emphasized that this programme underscores Bahrain's digital progress and the importance of personal data protection. He stated that developing qualified national professionals would increase trust in the digital economy and bolster Bahrain's legislative preparedness for future challenges.
Dr. Ahmed Abdulhameed Al Shaikh, CEO of BIBF, pointed out that the programme integrates legal and practical training to assist participants in developing internal policies, assessing risks, and ensuring compliance with data protection standards. Dr. Riyadh Mohamed Seyadi, Director of the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute, remarked that the initiative aids in cultivating legal competencies in emerging fields like data protection and digital governance.
The programme spans six days, offering 30 hours of training that covers data protection frameworks, compliance auditing, and complaint management. It forms a part of Bahrain's comprehensive efforts to promote transparency, digital trust, and leadership in data legislation and cybersecurity.
