Damascus: A Jordanian economic delegation held talks in Damascus with Mohammad Al Bashir, Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, to explore cooperation prospects in energy projects, particularly renewable energy.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on investment in the sectors of energy, gas, electricity, oil derivatives, mining, engineering consultancy, and renewable energy, in line with Syria's efforts to diversify its energy sources.
The delegation, led by Khalil Al Haj Tawfiq, President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, was briefed on Syria's planned projects in the energy, water, electricity, and domestic gas supply sectors.
Mohammad Al Bashir said that Syria is currently reviewing proposals for alternative energy projects with a production capacity of 300 megawatts. He added that the coming period will see the signing of several contracts with international companies in the fields of oil, clean energy, and electricity, in addition to plans to build a new oil refinery.
Khalil Al Haj Tawfiq noted that the delegation's visit, representing the trade and services sector, reflects the private sector's commitment to establishing a new vision for the economic relations between the two countries and supporting Syria's new economy and reconstruction projects.
