Jordan to announce new passport services for Jerusalemites: Interior Ministry

A meeting is scheduled for Monday at the Civil Status and Passports Department to announce new services intended to be launched in the Sharia Court in Jerusalem for Palestinians. According to an Interior Ministry statement Sunday, the meeting aims to “alleviate the suffering of our people in Jerusalem” after signing an agreement between the Civil Status and Passports Department and the Jordan Post Company in 2018. According to the statement, the announcement is slated to include “accepting” requests to issue passports for Jerusalemites for the first time without specifying age and allowing Jordanian citizens who hold a national number and are married to Jerusalemite citizens who have a Jerusalemite identity to apply for the issuance and renewal of passports for themselves and their children through the Sharia Court in occupied Jerusalem.
