Investment Minister Kholoud Saqqaf and Cypriot Ambassador Michalis Ioannou on Monday discussed the outcomes of a memorandum of understanding on investment cooperation signed during the Cypriot president's recent visit to Jordan. During the meeting, Saqqaf said the agreement will enable the two sides to establish a regulatory framework for Jordanian-Cypriot business ties. A Ministry statement said that Saqqaf tackled means to highlight investment opportunities in both countries, identify promising sectors, hold sector-specific meetings, and exchange information on investment policies and legislation. She said the Ministry is ready to assist Cypriot enterprises overcome hurdles and encourage them to bring fresh investments into the Jordanian market. The minister also went over measures the government has taken to increase Jordan's investment appeal, including the passage of legislation regulating the investment environment and the law on public-private sector partnership projects. Additionally, the ministry launched an investment promotion strategy for the years 2023-2026 and the Invest.jo platform. The Cypriot ambassador said that a virtual meeting will be held between the Jordanian Ministry of Investment and the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency in September to discuss putting the signed agreement into force. Ioannou added that the memorandum aims to enhance investment and business relations between the two countries, highlighting that both countries are currently implementing various measures to promote cooperation at all levels, driven by shared objectives and political leadership.
