Jordan, Algeria talk ties

Head of the Jordanian-Algerian Parliamentary Committee Marwa Saoub and Algerian Ambassador to Jordan Abdulkarim Behha discussed bilateral relations on Sunday. During a meeting with the ambassador, Saoub emphasized the strong relationship between the two sides and praised Algeria’s important role in the Arab arena, as well as its support for the Palestinian cause. She underlined the significance of the Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, as well as Jordan’s pivotal role in achieving a fair and all-encompassing resolution to the Palestinian issue. She called for enhancing parliamentary and trade ties, while also acknowledging that the Kingdom is embarking on a new phase of elections featuring parties aligned with the goal of modernizing the political system. Behha affirmed his country’s commitment to improving ties with Jordan, adding that a tax-free customs zone will be established in the near future to promote trade between Jordan and Algeria.
