East sitra: Following the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, Yousif bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Jaafari Endowments Council, laid the foundation stone for Al Buraq Mosque and Kumayl ibn Ziyad Mosque in East Sitra.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the initiative is part of a broader effort to open, renovate, and restore 60 mosques across the Kingdom of Bahrain under the Sunni and Jaafari Endowments Councils. Al Saleh emphasized the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to constructing and maintaining mosques under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He noted the support from HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in expanding the mosque network to benefit both citizens and residents.
Al Buraq Mosque will cover a total area of 2,003 square metres and will have two floors. The ground floor will include a men’s prayer hall along with various facilities and services, while the first floor will be designated for a women’s prayer hall with similar amenities. The mosque will have the capacity to accommodate 750 worshippers and will feature four commercial endowment outlets, whose proceeds will support the project. Additional facilities will include integrated service facilities and parking spaces.
Kumayl ibn Ziyad Mosque will span an area of 2,118 square metres and will also consist of two floors. The layout is similar to that of Al Buraq Mosque, with a men’s prayer hall on the ground floor and a women’s prayer hall on the first floor, both equipped with necessary facilities and services. This mosque will accommodate 600 worshippers and will include five endowment commercial outlets for project support, along with integrated service facilities and parking spaces.
