The leader of the National Coalition, Dr. Iyad Allawi, received the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Regional Government, Qubad Talabani, and their accompanying delegation, in the presence of the National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Araji, and members of the leadership of the National Coalition.
During the meeting, according to a statement by Allawi’s office, a number of files were discussed on the political scene, most notably the file of the relationship between Baghdad and Erbil.
Dr. Allawi stressed that the time has come to develop an accurate description of the form and nature of the relationship between Baghdad and Erbil, and that the interest of our one, united Iraqi people requires everyone to stay away from any form of media escalation, and to resort to a dialogue table with sincere intentions in order to end all disputes and problems that mar the relationship between the Federal government and regional government.
Dr. Allawi also stressed that providing the means for a decent living for all the Iraqi people is a responsibility borne by everyone, and each party must contribute to providing the means for this decent living according to its responsibilities, which will contribute to preventing any foreign interference in Iraqi affairs.
